Event Description
July's
Artescape is the seventh of a series of visual and performing arts showcases
that will form a collective of creative and talented free-thinkers.
The title has two meanings. First, it refers to the variety of styles
that will come together to paint the musical landscape of the event.
Second, it alludes to the importance of art in its various forms as
a release of personal expression … a means of escaping our limitations
and creatively expressing our understanding of the world.
Aside
from being a fund-raiser, Artescape will provide an opportunity for
the diverse young, progressive community in San Diego to come together
and meet each other. Activist San Diego’s appropriate motto is
‘Building a Network for Social Justice.” Artescape is an
extension of Activist San Diego’s mission. There are a lot of
artists in San Diego who would like the opportunity to experiment with
fusions of musical styles and relate to people with new styles of creative
expression, but they are scattered across the area. We want to bring
them together, in a situation where they can meet each other and become
part of a new collective of open, intelligent and talented artists.
