“You’ve got to liberate this country from corporate oligarchy. They control our lives.

This is not a democracy, it’s a Plutocracy. The people don’t rule here - Wealth rules. The corporations rule. They rule the congress. They elect the president. They run the pentagon. They own the media.”

Chris Hedges on America’s War on Iraq 6/25

Seldom do left progressives give their undivided attention to the Christian left. This coming Wedns. June 25th at 6:30 PM we have an opportunity to hear the profound message of Chris Hedges. He speaks about the responsibility Christians have to take a stand on the war, and more importantly to become a part of the movement to stop the war, NOW!

Activist San Diego is a co-sponsor of this important event (more info). We are convinced that Chris is one of the most compelling progressive voices in America today. He speaks from a Christian perspective that is seldom given media attention, which leaves the impression that Christianity and support for the war go hand in hand. Chris will set the record straight.

Please invite your friends of faith to attend this talk. We believe Chris’ conversation has to power to make people reconsider some of their basic assumptions about US foreign policy and the people who drive that policy from the Administration on down.

ASD needs your help to consolidate gains that we are making in our Blackwater work, new website, and the new FM frequency we hope to land in the days ahead. Call us at 619-528-8383 or info@ActivistSanDiego.org

Food for Thought

The two-star general who led an Army investigation into the horrific detainee abuse at Abu Ghraib has accused the Bush administration of war crimes and is calling for accountability… then-Major General Anthony Taguba concluded that "numerous incidents of sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses were inflicted on several detainees." He called the abuse "systemic and illegal."
