Financial-market wise guys, who had been seized with fear, are suddenly drunk with hope. They are rallying explosively because they think they have successfully stampeded Washington into accepting the Wall Street Journal solution to the crisis: dump it all on the taxpayers.

Fertilize Grassroots Activism

Activist San Diego needs you! Please donate. San Diego and our country need local social justice institutions. There is no better time for our grassroots activism. The national economy looks like it is in meltdown from war and corporate bailouts. The people are starved for good information.

Activist San Diego now needs your financial and participatory support. ASD provides a steady flow of progressive information and disseminate information to help a myriad of San Diego's progressive organizations and movements, but without you this work does not pay our bills. Our county's and our country's future depends on an educated and mobilized community. We depend on you to contribute to keep the flow growing.

We need your involvement, but we also ask you to /please/ make a sustaining contribution to ASD today. We have a particular need to pay bills and back taxes so we can continue the good fight for peace, justice and equality. On the website it is easy for you to automatically donate just a few dollars a month for social justice. Do it today! secure.groundspring.org

A soldier was detained in Iraq after he allegedly opened fire on a superior and another unit member, killing them both, the Army said Wednesday. The soldier was subdued by other troops, and medics tried unsuccessfully to save the wounded soldiers…

Maxine Mathis, stepmother of one of the slain soldiers, Staff Sgt. Darris J. Dawson, said he told her, "Momma, I'm not so afraid of the enemy. I'm afraid of our young guys over there, because they're so jumpy and so quick to shoot."
