"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous
to our liberties than standing armies. Already they
have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the
government at defiance. The issuing power should be
taken from the banks and restored to the people, to
whom it properly belongs."

20th is the last day to register to vote. Do it today.
Barring
the usual fraud and voter disenfranchisement, in just
over two week the electorate will decide if a majority
of us have had enough of the current war machine, war
profiteering, economic crisis, racial inequality, religious
fundamentalism and imperial expansion. Well not quite,
but Nov. 4th is a referendum on the future direction
of our nation. No vote will change the nature of capitalism
and its mode of operation, but the opportunity for a
reverse swing of the pendulum, which has relentlessly
swung against the interests of working people, will
be registered. There appears to be a large sector of
the American people that are at last, fed up with monopoly,
power grabs, manipulation and deception.
Get
out and push the pendulum for the next couple of weeks
with all your might. And after Nov. 4th we must look
for venues to collectively reflect and strategize about
the future of our movement for social justice. How will
we bring in new constituencies to the struggle? What
coalitions, parties, campaigns and organizing drives
will be needed to advance our movement? Nothing will
change under a new administration without constant vigilance
and public organizing. Without organizations and growing
membership there will be no progress. Will you join
an organization and build this new movement?
ASD
is just one of many forces out there. We want and need
your participation. And ASD also need your financial
support to survive and thrive. Please become a sustaining
member by going to secure.groundspring.org

| "If
the American people ever allow private banks to control
the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation,
the banks and corporations that will grow up around
them will deprive the people of all property until their
children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers
conquered."

The
3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team
has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling
in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services
and escorting supply convoys... Now they’re training
for the same mission — with a twist — at
home ... After 1st BCT finishes its dwell-time mission,
expectations are that another, as yet unnamed, active-duty
brigade will take over and that the mission will be
a permanent one...
