San Diego Monthly Meeting Second Monday of
the month, 7pm NEW LOCATION - Joyce
Beers Community Center, 1090 Vermont, one block north
of University, next to Trader Joe's Hillcrest Shopping
Center 619-528-8383. Everyone welcome Please join us |

| With
the economic meltdown and the political crisis of confidence,
it is time that left progressives join together to strategize
about the role that we need to play if we are going
to pull ourselves from the precipice. Society needs
to hear from us and needs to see us in action. The right
wing will surely offer their storyline and proposals
if we do not. Is it not time to consider broad-based
think tanks or coalitions to arrive at common strategies
so we can prepare to address the growing crisis, and
the human devastation that the crisis may leave in its
wake? The time for social action and the time for unifying
our various movements has never been better. Let us
start.
The
elections must not be the end of our political actions,
rather just the beginning.
Come
by our next ASD General meeting on the second Monday
of the month and please keep your donations and dues
coming in to keep us growing in this critical period.

| This
whole idea that in order to increase our security, we
need to give up some of our freedom, is a phony juxtaposition.
Attack the assumption – where’s the proof
that giving up our freedom will increase our security.
History
teaches us that we will indeed be less free, but we
won’t necessarily be any more secure, in fact
we’ll end up living in fear of our own security
forces.

Robert Meeropol, younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg,
speaking on “Beyond the Pale” on WBAI-FM,
New York, 10-26-2008 (listen)

'Social
Justice is what faces you in the morning. It is awakening
in a house with an adequate water supply, cooking facilities
and sanitation. It is the ability to nourish your children
and send them to school where their education not only
equips them for employment but reinforces their knowledge
and appreciation of their cultural inheritance. It is
the prospect of genuine employment and good health:
a life of choices and opportunity. A life free from
discrimination.'
