I think a better solution is a no-state solution. But this is pie in the sky. If you’re really in favor of a one-state solution, which in fact I’ve been all my life—accept a bi-national state, not one state—you have to give a path to get from here to there. Otherwise, it’s just talk.

Americans who paid close attention to the G20 summit (a summit of heads of states of 19 countries), learnt an important lesson. The unseemly greed of the corporate lords has further eroded any respect that the world community had for the US after the arrogant atrocities of the Bush administration. President Lula of Brazil called the economic crisis- ".. a crisis caused and encouraged by the irrational behavior of white people with blue eyes." This was not a racial attack. He was pointing out to his long held opinion that poor and developing nations have been victims of mistakes made in richer countries, caused by irresponsibility in the world's banking systems. In a thumbs-down attitude, China wants a new global reserve currency (not the US Dollar) and reforming the international financial institutions to give more assistance to developing countries. We agree. Let us unite in changing this smoke and mirror American and indeed the World Banking system with an alternate way of managing the world's needs and production and restore the global faith in the US financial sector.

Bill Fletcher, Labor activist, author and a friend of ASD (www.blackcommentator.com) points out that the American history is repeating itself. US military is expanding a self appointed mission in Afghanistan while trying to straighten out a seriously hobbled economy, just as it did in Vietnam during the Lyndon Johnson era. While some would argue that Afghanistan is not Iraq and does harbors terrorists, and therefore sending more troops to "capture Osama Bin Laden" is justified, this is as much a military adventure as Vietnam. This sending of more troops will only mire the country into another intractable war against an intangible enemy. Let us continue to call for pulling back American troops from wars that are engineered and advocated by the Military Industrial Complex.

Calling all progressive people,- Activist San Diego needs YOU and wants YOU to help us and to lead us. Our activities range from peace activism to advocacy for rights of the under privileged and under represented to fighting against corporate greed to fighting for a socially and environmentally just society. We urgently need more volunteers as we take on new initiatives and we certainly need much, much more money for the fantastic projects we are planning. Please enroll at this website.

Food for Thought

They made bad loans. Their type of loan was to sell a guarantee, right? And they charged a lot of fees up front. So, they booked a lot of income. Paid enormous bonuses. The bonuses we're thinking about now, they're much smaller than these bonuses that were also the product of accounting fraud. And they got very, very rich. But, of course, then they had guaranteed this toxic waste. These liars' loans. Well, we've just gone through why those toxic waste, those liars' loans, are going to have enormous losses. And so, you have to pay the guarantee on those enormous losses. And you go bankrupt. Except that you don't in the modern world, because you've come to the United States, and the taxpayers play the fool.
