| The
First 100 Days of the Obama Administration quickly begin
to roll into the next 100 days the Peace and Justice
movement is preparing to step up to the challenge of
re motivating the Obama grassroots. The need for a Peace
Movement is just as strong in 2009 as in 2001. We now
must take the time to analyze the current situation
and prepare ourselves to take action. According to the
Iraqi Interior Ministry officials this month has been
the deadliest in 2009 for Iraqi civilians. Rep. Dennis
Kucinich (D-OH) commented immediately after Obama’s
withdrawal speech: "You cannot leave combat troops
in a foreign country to conduct combat operations and
call it the end of the war. You can’t be in and
out at the same time." Many issues have been brought
to light, argued, debated, and debunked in a public
setting. However many thoughts, concerns, and ideas
have been overlooked or ignored it is up to us, we the
people, to raise these issues to not let them be ignored.
The
situation in Afghanistan has worsened each year. Over
600,000 Afghans lack basic healthcare services due to
attacks on healthcare facilities and health workers
- a figure that has doubled since 2007, Abdullah Fahim,
a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH),
has said. It is this avoidable loss of life that we
have been coming together to oppose the US led occupations
of Iraq and Afghanistan through out the Bush years and
will continue to do so during the Obama administration.
The responsibility of the movement to put pressure on
Obama is one which we have taken upon ourselves it is
a weight on our shoulders that we must carry. Over the
next few years if we are to bring about peaceful change
we must first show this administration we are paying
attention and our voices must be heard.
On
May 18th Activist San Diego will host a round table
discussion to analyze President Obama's early record
and discuss how to ensure a true peoples' agenda triumphs
over corporate-centrism . We will be coming together
to discuss why thousands more troops are being sent
to Afghanistan. Why are Wall Street perpetrators being
kept afloat? Why are CIA torturers not being persecuted?
What
questions do you have? What answers do you deserve?
Please join us for our public discussion at the Joyce
Beers Center at 7pm and let your voice be heard!

| Well
you mentioned Dr. Perry Link the fear the Chinese government
has… it’s constantly looking over it’s
shoulder. We in the west often see them as this sort
of a powerful cabal, which they clearly are. But, they’re
also very nervous , they’re riding this tiger
at home. And the one thing that they… uh, communist
are most afraid of, paradoxically of course, and ironically,
is a labor movement. You know, the so called party of
the working class, are really afraid of the working
class.
