"Few people remember that Labor Day is promoted in September
to perpetuate the myth that an alliance between capitalists and
workers made the United States a great industrial nation. The truth
is that Labor Day is promoted by the state to draw attention away
from May 1st, international Labor Day, which was part of the workers
demands for an eight-hour day, and the killing of four workers at
Haymarket Square."

Food for Thought

The truth is that for all their talk of purity, politicians like
Palin, Angle, and Miller don’t seem to be particularly concerned
with matching their actual positions to the Constitution they profess
to worship. For them, the sacred text serves a higher purpose—and
in the end, that purpose isn’t hard to pinpoint.

--
America’s Holy Writ Tea Party evangelists claim the Constitution
as their sacred text. Why that’s wrong. Newsweek:

~~~~~
"By
holding that this kind of surveillance doesn't impair an individual's
reasonable expectation of privacy, the panel hands the government
the power to track the movements of every one of us, every day of
our lives."
--
Alex Kozinski, the chief judge of the 9th U. S. Circuit Court of
Appeals, in a blistering dissent in which a three-judge panel from
his court ruled that search warrants weren't necessary for GPS tracking.
Discovery of GPS tracker becomes privacy issue, By
Paul Elias
~~~~~

"It
has been made far too clear that our national amnesia certainly
extends over the last two years. After an era of Republican rule
that saw vast economic collapse, the abrogation of basic rights,
the trashing of Constitutional law, two decade-long wars that still
have no end in sight, a catastrophic terrorist attack that could
have been prevented, the virtual annihilation of a major American
city that could have been prevented, and the theft and waste of
trillions of dollars, every available poll appears to indicate that
the American people have already forgotten all about it, and are
perfectly ready to let the wolves back inside the fence."

amnesia - The Way We Forget. William
