Annual
2012 WORK-A-THON FOR
PEACE and SOCIAL JUSTICE
Saturday, May 19, starting at 9:00 AM

Support a low-income community school and two progressive groups

THERE ARE TWO WAYS YOU CAN HELP:

1. VOLUNTEER for a day to help build gardens at the King-Chavez Arts & Athletics Academies, attended by 3rd-5th grade students (85% English-learners) in a low-income neighborhood of San Diego. The garden will provide hands-on educational experiences to connect children with the source of their food. While integrating curriculum, hunger and disease prevention, self-sufficiency and physical activity opportunities, it will also build student self-esteem, self-reliance, positive relationships, and sustainability awareness.

2. SPONSOR a volunteer worker. Your donation as a sponsor will give encouragement to those donating their labor and also benefit two non-profit groups: the Project on Youth and Non-Military Opportunities (Project YANO) and the Peace Resource Center of San Diego. Write your check to PRC/Work-a-thon and mail it to: Peace Resource Center, 3850 Westgate Pl., San Diego, CA 92105.
