KNSJ Mission Statement - Working Draft

KNSJ is a listener-supported, community-based, educational, self-sustaining radio station for the richly diverse populations in the San Diego border region.
· KNSJ seeks to be people-powered radio; a catalyst for an informed community to use its creative energies to network for social justice.
· KNSJ seeks to provide high quality radio for those peoples and viewpoints, which have traditionally been excluded by the commercial media, especially those cultural, ethnic and social groups who have been historically marginalized.
· KNSJ seeks to enhance the well-being of its listener and participant-producers by enriching their minds and souls so that as a community we can engage in the struggle for peace, equality, and "justice for all".
· KNSJ seeks to train and empower organizations and community members to produce their own news, culture and media, believing that a vibrant democracy depends on information, communications and mobilization of, for and by the people in our local and global society.
