Councilmembers to Encourage Families to Join San Diego’s Only Open-Streets Celebration – CicloSDias

Business Districts from Barrio Logan to Little Italy to stir excitement for community-building movement in downtown neighborhoods
Bike Coalition to offer details on route closures, public transit for October 29

WHAT: To support the region’s only open-streets celebration, San Diego City Councilmembers Chris Ward and David Alvarez will join the San Diego Bike Coalition for a press conference in Barrio Logan that encourages families to attend CicloSDias on October 29.

After Councilmembers explain the importance of exploring our downtown communities outside of a car, a suite of neighborhood districts will stir excitement for the event by sharing details of how businesses along the route will come alive for families to experience and shop local.

Lastly, the San Diego Bike Coalition will share details about road closures and encourage all people to travel to and from this Sunday’s event using public transit.

WHY: Around the world, open-streets celebrations give people an opportunity to get outside and rediscover neighborhoods free from car traffic. As San Diego’s only open-streets celebration, CicloSDias invites families to pedal, walk, skateboard or rollerblade through popular downtown neighborhoods to experience the distinct character that each community has to offer and enjoy inimitable San Diego neighborhoods in a slower and more enjoyable way.
