In celebration of this year’s Filipino American History Month (FAHM), please join APALA-San Diego for brunch on October 28, 2017, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Olivewood Clubhouse, 541 E. 24th Street, National City, CA 91950.

We will host a screening of “The Fall of the I-Hotel.” The International Hotel or I-Hotel was a low-income residential hotel in San Francisco that was demolished under a so-called urban renewal program in 1977. The documentary tells the story of those who were displaced, majority of whom Filipino-Americans, but who were able to organize a strong community resistance.

After the screening, there will be a panel discussion about the housing crisis in San Diego with a focus on the current struggle of residents of PQ Village, many of them Filipino-Americans, who now face potential eviction from the only remaining affordable housing project in Rancho Penasquitos.

For more information, see attached event flyer and APALA-San Diego's FAQ sheet on the PQ Village issue; or visit the event's FB page at https://www.facebook.com/events/1973453302927764/.
