We float between polarities of prose and verse, between villages of culture and communities of heart, between form and free, between assonance and consonance, between closed and open, between myth and legend, between traditional and experimental.

My April workshop will not be lightweight. In Celebration of National Poetry Month will be designed to invite you into heartfelt storytelling with your pen, invite you to breathe with the poems you will be hearing and the film clips you will be watching from the likes of Alvarez, Barbara Ras, Women's Harlem Renaissance poet Alice Moore Dunbar-Nelson, Palomar Poet/Professor Sonia Gutierrez, Adrienne Rich, Muriel Rukeyser, and others.

Beginning and seasoned poets will enjoy this three hour workshop divided equally between women and men griots, with the second 90 minutes focused on the magic of male wordsmiths like Kowit, Tony Hoagland, Quincy Troupe, James Dickey, Jack Collum, Harlem Renaissance poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, and others. I look forward to meeting you or seeing you again in our Container of respect. Kindly remember this is not a critique group, it is a laboratory of light; not lightweight but in the heart's light.
