Youth around the globe are leading a massive climate strike on September 20. At schools, universities, and workplaces all over the world, people of all ages will walk out on 9/20/19 to demand their governments tackle the climate crisis. The #ClimateStrike will start a week of action surrounding a United Nations climate summit.

“We’re asking adults to step up alongside us,” an international group of youth strikers wrote. “Step out of your comfort zone to make this a turning point in our history. This is about crossing lines – it’s about rebelling wherever one can rebel.”

SanDiego350, a climate action nonprofit, will provide resources and support to help students organize powerful actions at schools throughout San Diego County.

Your event: You could just make a sign and stand with it. Or you could plan a day full of activities and music with a team of volunteers. Or anything in between. You might march or make art or dance. It is up to you. We are here to help with ideas, information, logistics, coaching, and skills training.

Use whatever parts of this toolkit are helpful for your event. These free resources include:

Information and videos to help you tell others about the climate crisis.
Ideas on how to recruit other students to help organize and attend your event.
Sample posters, flyers, social media posts.
Ideas for getting your parents and other adults involved.
Ideas for planning creative and powerful events.
A guide for working with news media.

Connections: We can connect you with organizers at other high schools and colleges in the local region, to share ideas and planning.

Coaches: Volunteers from SanDiego350 can be assigned to your school, if you wish, to work with you through the planning of your September 20 event.
