Please join us September 8, 2019 at 6:30 pm at the Joyce Beers Community Center for a screening of the debut documentary feature film by Abby Martin and Mike Prysner of The Empire Files.

“...an excellent movie that is difficult to watch, and disturbing at times, precisely because it presents a true, realistic view of life in Gaza. The movie shows how a small, courageous nation — locked up in the world’s largest concentration camp, facing inexcusable, unjustifiable and unforgivable violence — refuses to give up on its hopes and dreams and continues to fight for life.” ~ Miko Peled, human rights activist born in Jerusalem author of “The General’s Son. Journey of an Israeli in Palestine”

This film began while Abby Martin was reporting in Palestine. She was denied entry into Gaza by the Israeli government on the grounds that she was a “propagandist.” So, Abby bypassed the blockade by connecting with a team of journalists within Gaza.

Their collaboration shows you Gaza’s protest movement like you’ve never seen before. Filmed during the height of the Great March Of Return protests, it features exclusive footage of demonstrations where 200 unarmed civilians have been killed by Israeli snipers since March 30, 2018.

The documentary tells the story of Gaza past and present, showing rare archival footage that explains the history never acknowledged by mass media. Victims are heard from the ongoing massacre, including journalists, medics and the family of internationally-acclaimed paramedic, Razan al-Najjar.

At its core, "Gaza Fights For Freedom" is a thorough indictment of the Israeli military for war crimes, with legal documentation and photographic evidence.
