Vacation Rentals Make Housing Crisis Worse
MEDIA ALERT: PRESS CONFERENCE TOMORROW AT NOON

Bulk Lessor Corporations Turning Residential Buildings into
Illegal Short-Term Rentals

Housing Crisis Made Worse

Save San Diego Neighborhoods will hold a press conference at The Louisiana, 2305 University Avenue, to raise awareness about the illegal use of residential apartment units as
short-term rentals by corporate bulk lessors.

Although San Diego, like the rest of California, is suffering under a crippling housing crisis, bulk lessor corporations, like Sonder and Stay Alfred, are leasing residential apartments at substantially above market rate from owners/developers and sub-leasing these units as short-term rentals, in effect turning residential apartment complexes into illegal hotels.

As these residential apartments are systematically removed from San Diego’s housing stock, rents and housing costs are driven higher, and housing is put further out of reach for San Diego residents.

Save San Diego Neighborhoods will be joined by Council President Pro Tem and Mayoral Candidate Barbara Bry.

Date: Thursday, September 5, 2019
Time: 12:00 noon
Location: The Louisiana, 2305 University Avenue
