The Poets Vote -- Part 2![]() ![]() 10/10/2019 - 7:00pm 10/10/2019 - 9:30pm Two Voter Registration Tables/Poetry/Education Poets: Sharon Elise, Rex Butters, Pilar R. Aranda, Joe Milosch, Lori Walkington, & Jim Moreno Education: Stan Rodriguez: Kumeyaay Elder When power leads man toward arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses, for art establishes the basic human truths which must serve as the touchstone of our judgment. When I began to listen to poetry, it's when I began to listen to the stones, and I began to listen to what the clouds had to say, and I began to listen to others. And I think, most importantly for all of us, then you begin to learn to listen to the soul, the soul of yourself in here, which is also the soul of everyone else. » |
