Register Brand New Citizens to Vote Following Morning Naturalization Ceremony!

Hillcrest Indivisible

Register newly sworn-in citizens as new voters and reinforce their right to vote at this event sponsored by the San Diego Democratic Party! You should definitely do this event at least once to gain a greater appreciation of our precious...

Register new voters in this very fast-paced event as 500-1,000 new citizens leave a ceremony where they have just become U.S. citizens. As they leave the ceremony with their family and friends, many are ready to register to vote. There is a steady stream for approximately one hour. Make time to come a little early and witness the ceremony—it is very moving.

This is a great opportunity to congratulate a new citizen on making it through the naturalization process and reinforcing their new right to be heard through their vote.

This booth is situated outside of Golden Hall in the patio area (with Republicans across from us.)

Training is provided at 10--recently trained volunteers can show up at 10:15.

Attire: Registration is held outside so dress for the weather, including a hat if it's sunny. For this event only, NO HI SHIRTS OR RED SHIRTS!! Wear a BLUE shirt or purchase one from the organizers (the Repubs have on red shirts and we are right next to them). Buttons identifying you as a registrar will be available—please turn those in to organizers before the end of the session.

No storage place for backpacks or purses is available so those are not recommended. Bring water if desired.

Transportation: The Blue Line trolley lets you off at the Civic Center Station, just steps from our location. For drivers, Macy’s at Horton Plaza will validate for up to three hours of parking, no purchase necessary. The validation machine is located on the first floor of Macy’s on the check out counter in the women’s shoe department. Parking ticket can be validated before or after the voter registration.
