Jim Moreno Marching for Justice

Poetry Teaching Artist Jim Moreno invites beginning to seasoned poets to immerse themselves in the consciousness of the Civil Rights Era by writing social justice poetry from prompts by such artivists (artists & activists) as the above and Sonia Sanchez, Quincy Troop, Amiri Baraka, and Bobby Kennedy. Kennedy was quoted as saying, “ Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope.” Another artivist, Jesse Jackson stated, “If you fall behind, run faster. Never give up, never surrender, and rise up against the odds.”
