WHAT: The San Diego Veterans For Peace will honor the estimated one hundred San Diego County fallen soldiers of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars with a Armistice/Veterans Day memorial headstone display and ceremony on November 11th from 9:00AM to 10:30 AM

THIS IS A MEDIA ONLY EVENT and not be open to the public !!

WHERE: The Balboa Park War Memorial Building, 3325 Zoo Drive, SD, CA 92101 (just off Park Blvd.)

WHY: To honor our local fallen soldiers and to remind us of the true meaning of Armistice Day.

WHEN: Wednesday, November 11th, 2020 from 9:00-10:30 AM

PARKING: Closest Parking is at the very north end of the ZOO parking lot. The parking lot adjoins the War Memorial Building.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is NOT open to members of the public due to the pandemic. All personnel will wear PPE gear and maintain 6-8’ distance at all times. Veterans for Peace will film the ceremony and carry it on their website from November 11-15.


There will be a ceremony beginning at 9:00 AM. A short introduction will take place followed by recognition of the display and reading of the names, followed by a moment of silence.

The ceremony will close with the singing of “In Flanders Field” by Kathleen Fox, a fourteen year old Gold Star Family member in honor of her father.
