Our Feature For February is Sojourner Kincaid Rolle
Sojourner Kincaid Rolle, a recent Poet Laureate (2015-17) of Santa Barbara, CA. is a poet, playwright and  cultural arts advocate . Rolle defines herself as a public poet and has been engaged with public presentations of her work for more than forty years. Growing up in the Jim Crow South, living the night life in theNorth, settling down on the West Coast, sets the stage for her poems of witness and lament, praise and love.
As a cultural activist, she engages audiences through all forms of media - print and broadcast forms as well as digital and virtual, to express the deepest secrets of her soul. She embraces the collective voice of her literary ancestors and endeavors to uplift contemporary conversations on the poetics of race, culture, and social change.

Rolle is the author of six plays  all produced by Dramatic Women Theater Company and a number of poetry collections.  Most notably, Common Ancestry (Mille Grazie, 1999) , Black Street (Center for Black Studies Research, 2009) and the most recent, Yellow Mellow Global Umbrella 0 Bilingual Edition  (Lucky Penny Press, 2916..
