For centuries, native Baja Californians have woven beautiful baskets using the leaves of native juncus plants, making it one of the most ancient and iconic traditions of our region.
This hands-on, one-day workshop is a rare opportunity to learn the whole process of traditional basket weaving directly from Kumeyaay master weavers, including gathering and preparing juncus materials, creating beautiful designs and making your own basket medallion to take home.
The $60 cost of the workshop includes juncus and other materials, lunch and translation throughout the workshop .
