Looking for New Years Eve plans? Want to intentionally kick off 2026 with like-minded community change-makers like yourself?

Say goodbye 2025 and hello 2026 with Activist San Diego at our Winter Garden of Healing event! This quarter, we will be ringing in the New Year with a free, all-ages, open-house event from midday December 31st to midday January 1st (yes, we'll be going all night!) Everyone is welcome to come and go as they please. 

There will be a bonfire, music jam session, DJs, delicious food, and space for reflection, healing and shedding the previous year. We will welcome in 2026 together and set our intentions for what we want to create in the year ahead!

To sustain the Garden of Healing as a quarterly event, everyone is invited to give what they are able. This could be in the form of kitchen help, healing gifts, donations, sponsorships, or connections to supporters.

7th Annual Resistance Ride: NO ICE IN CITY HEIGHTS
Ride with us through the streets of City Heights on New Year’s Day, to commemorate the anniversary of the Zapatista uprising at dawn on January 1, 1994. Bikes del Pueblo will lead a bike ride throughout City Heights with @cityheightsdc, to remind residents that ICE is not welcome here, and to be in solidarity with the community and those that have been impacted by these recent abductions.

Join our next AUAC Workday at the Peace Garden!

We are honored to announce that we are partnering with @enerozapatista to further elevate and discuss the ongoing struggles of communities that comprise the diverse tapestry of our region.

As part of Enero Zapatista 2026, come join the Arif Collective community in working the land at the Peace Garden and learn about the Sudanese struggle for life and land as well as their culture, fashion, and food.

We will start the morning by connecting to the land, building beds, preparing the soil, and transplanting veggies.

This will be followed by a presentation on Sudan’s history and current genocidal war, as well as an exhibit of Sudanese art, clothing, and other heritage items. Sudanese food will be provided.

We encourage everyone to dress in their own cultural attire to honor the universal right to migrate. 🇸🇩

One year into Trump’s second regime, we face an escalating fascist threat: raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent.  It is time for our communities to escalate as well. 

2025 was a year of marches that showed our collective strength. And as the threats grow, our movement must evolve and escalate. Trump and his allies have already made clear that a second term would bring a deeper wave of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and violence than the first.

On January 20, we call on our communities to organize teams, call your neighbors and classmates, and turn your back and walk out on fascism. Host mutual aid planning meetings, organize public service, but walk out to block the normal routines of power, and make the stakes real. This is a protest and a promise.  In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.

Join Enero Zapatista Book Circle for a collective space of reading, reflection, and critical dialogue. Texts are available through the QR code drive. We’ll meet Thursday, January 22 and 29, from 6–8 PM. This selection launches a year-long study of EZLN communiqués and is intended to deepen our understanding of Zapatista language, intention, and political imagination. We will focus on two chapters from the book.
Caracoleando Among Worlds explores the deep connections between the contemporary literary movement of Maya writers in Chiapas and the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN). Though distinct in form and trajectory, both are united by a commitment to rescuing, reclaiming, and re-centering Maya worldviews. Through close readings of poetry, short stories, one of the first novels written by a Maya Tsotsil author from Chiapas, and the EZLN’s Six Declarations of the Lacandon Jungle, Silvia Soto traces shared themes of ancestral knowledge, epistemology, cultural continuity, and spiritual practice.
The book introduces works translated into English for the first time and places Maya writers of Chiapas in dialogue with broader Native American and Indigenous scholarship. In doing so, it reveals how literature, culture, and political struggle intertwine, offering a powerful exploration of Maya identity, resistance, and resilience.

Rady Children's Hospital has announced that effective February 6, 2026 it will close their Center for Gender-Affirming Care, cutting off access to care for trans youth ages 18 and under. This decision puts our youth at risk and is part of a growing national effort to strip trans youth of medically necessary, evidence-based care. We will not stay silent.

This Saturday, we're calling on families, advocates, and allies to show up and stand with us as we protest the clinic closure and defend access to gender-affirming care for trans youth. Flyer
